NC Professionl Teaching Standards Commission

Purpose:
Establishes high standards for NC's teachers and the teaching profession.
Membership:
There are 16 members, appointed for 2-year terms. The Governor appoints 8 members(4 teachers from a list submitted by the SBE, 1 principal, 1 superintendent, 2 reps from schools of education. The Pres. Pro tem of the Senate appoints 4 members (3 teachers and one at-large member) and the Speaker of the House appoints 4 members (3 teachers and one at-large member)
