Council on Educational Services for Exceptional Children

Purpose:
Advises SBE with respect to the unmet needs to children with special needs and in developing and implementing of policies related to the coordination of services for disabled students; advises the SBE with respect to developing evaluations and reporting on data, and developing corrective action plans to address findings in federal monitoring comments.
Membership:
23 members, the majority being parents of /or individuals with disabilities. 13 members appointed by the SBE, 4 members designated by IDEA, 2 appointed by the Speaker of the House, 2 appointed by the Pres. Pro Tem of the Senate, 2 appointed by the Governor.
