North Carolina State Board of Education Vision of Public Education in North Carolina: A Great Public Education System for a Great State

This vision guides the Board's work and encourages a shared commitment to assuring a strong, flexible and coherent education system that serves all students and that is geared toward the promotion of the public interest.

Mission:

State Board Mission: The State Board of Education is charged with supervising and administering "the free public school system and the educational funds provided for its support."
